When the tractors hit the Face-Off field, it wasn’t horsepower that won the day, but sheer torque that took the checkered flag. Our MT685D features an AGCO POWER™ engine that left the others in the dust.

  • By generating a greater torque rise over a wider range of RPM's, you get unmatched lugging ability for maximum productivity – no need to downshift or pull the implement out of the ground in tough terrain.
  • A higher sustained torque curve also means you’ll save on fuel while extending engine life.
  • Our engines are engineered specifically for agricultural applications to deliver sustained torque; not retrofitted from on–highway use like our competitors.

Our MT685D machine went into the Face-Off battle armed with our patented Techstar™ CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) designed to deliver the most efficient power transfer out there.

  • A longer wheelbase allows for in-line positioning of both engine and transmission.
  • Unlike competitive models, our simple, in-line design does not require power-robbing drop boxes or clutch packs to reroute power.
  • An independent hydraulic fluid reservoir avoids pollutants from other hydraulic functions which can increase wear on critical components.

When our Face-Off competitors pulled into pit row, the goal was clear: Get in and out as quickly and easily as possible. That’s where our MT685D shines.

  • Our MT685D features ergonomic design even under the hood. The cooling package is easy to access and clean. The air filter snaps in out, and you can easily check the oil before you can say, “let’s get back to work.”
  • With AGCO’s Fuse™ Technologies, you can set service reminders – alerting your dealer when routine maintenance is due and promoting better overall machine health.

In the swirling dust and sweltering heat of west Texas, four of the industry's top high-horsepower machines put their powertrains on the line in tillage, roading and servicing competitions. When the checkered flag finally dropped, only one tractor was left standing.

For each lap, growers were given equal time per tractor then asked to score them on a scale of 1-5 on attributes including performance, comfort and ease-of-use. For the service lap, they conducted routine maintenance and were timed along with providing scoring on ease-of-use.

The Face-Off judges were real growers recruited from counties surrounding the competition location. Coming from Texas, these producers understand demanding Ag environments and the performance advantages that make all the difference.

Our combatants included the Challenger MT685D, John Deere 8335R, Case Magnum 340 and New Holland T8.390. All similarly equipped for battle.
